Eggshells: Transforming Waste into Sustainable Value

At Agotzaina / Bekoetxe, we are taking a significant step forward in our commitment to the circular economy. With the support of the Navarre Waste Fund, we have launched an innovative project to transform eggshells—previously considered a by-product—into a valuable source of nutrients for the agri-food industry.

Turning Innovation into Value

Through an advanced thermal treatment process, eggshells are processed to obtain high-purity calcium carbonate (CaCO₃). This technology ensures the complete elimination of biological risks, including Salmonella, allowing the material to be safely reused as an essential ingredient in animal feed production.

Sustainability and Impact

This initiative not only improves the efficiency of our operations but also strengthens our environmental commitment by:

• Significantly reducing industrial waste.

• Supporting the principles of the circular economy by returning calcium to the food chain.
